Here we go then, my own travel blog. Someone might think “how original”. I know! World is full of blogs, there are travel blogs, lifestyle blogs and even uncategorized blogs that are filled with travel posts. I am not a writer, I am not a photographer and definitely do not see myself as a blogger either. So why do I start a blog then? Well, to be quite honest, I’m not yet quite sure. One thing I know for sure is that I love travelling and if I could, I would probably have at least three trips booked all the time. However, I am lucky enough to have a stable full-time job at an IT-company, which naturally limits the time I can travel.
When I am not on the road (sometimes even during that) I find myself looking for new places to go. Most often it is Google Maps that keeps me occupied and gets me inspired – and I am not joking! I have honestly spent hundreds of hours in the past few years just looking at the world map, thinking of all the different places I could travel. Once I find an interesting point on the map, next comes the flight searching engines. I could say that I am getting to a pro-level in searching good flights to the most random locations. Looking for good flights is also something that I can not get bored with and something I sometimes do just for the fun of it, even without any intention to book anything.
After finding reasonable flights, next comes Google. What to do, what to see, where to sleep, eat.. Planning a trip is almost as much fun as actually travelling, but only almost. To these questions that arise when planning a trip, the best advice I get is from different blogs. I only read two or three travel blogs regularly, but can easily visit ten different travel blogs in a day, all it takes is to find a post from the place I’m interested in. From blogs I keep finding interesting stories, hints and advice that have helped me a lot in my trips.
So what’s the thing with having my own blog then? In my previous trip around central Europe a couple of weeks ago, it came to my mind that maybe, just maybe, I could help out someone else by sharing my experiences also, so why not start my own blog. Also, for a long time I’ve thought of a good way to keep track on my adventures, as quite often I realize that the little precious details are forgotten after a while and all I can say from a destination is “Pretty cool, there was this amazing place that I can not remember much about anymore”. Also, not so many of my friends are that keen on travelling and thus, not so eager to hear about all the (cool) stuff that I’ve come a cross on the trips, and I’m dying to share the stories with someone! So maybe if all goes well and I manage to keep this blog up to date, you will have some interesting trips to read about, and I will have something to go back to when my memory fails me.
So here we go then, in case you manage to find anything interesting or useful, please drop a comment, it would be highly appreciated.
